About us
Partnerships for Health
Basic primary health care for all
SolidarMed's vision is to provide all people in southern and eastern Africa with access to good health care.
Solidarity and partnership are at the heart of all of our activities. We strive for social balance and promote self-determined development. SolidarMed behaves fairly, transparently and respectfully towards the local population, donors, partners and its employees. Professional competence, experience, trust and credibility form the basis of our work.
What we stand for
Active since 1926
SolidarMed combines up-to-date knowledge with many years of experience.
Working locally
Our cooperation with local partners ensures long-term development.
Using resources efficiently
80 percent of the donations are used for project work.
Eight countries - one team
We have over 200 people working in eight countries in Africa to improve health care for local communities. SolidarMed strengthens health systems and so contributes to the sustainable development goals.
The activities in Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Lesotho, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone are supported by a team in Lucerne.

Vision
SolidarMed's vision is to provide all people in southern and eastern Africa with access to good health care.

History
SolidarMed has always been a child of its time. The first annual reports show our origins as a Catholic organisation in the 1920s. Since then, SolidarMed has undergone many transformations into the modern non-governmental organisation it is today. What has remained unchanged is our commitment to solidarity.
Partnerships for Health
SolidarMed maintains strong partnerships with the public sector, with national and international organisations, with foundations and with our donors.
SolidarMed works locally with hospitals, state authorities, private health service providers, dioceses and various local NGOs, associations and local communities.
